Hi, I was wondering if anyone had experienced the same?

My Visa expires in February but my work permit expires at end of April. I have a new waiver from Khruspa so I should be able to apply for a 1 year renewal of my visa. However I was a little worried with my work permit only running until the end of April, that they might only give me a visa until then.

Should I apply early to extend my work permit first?

Important to know is when your employment contract finishes.

In the ideal situation the expiration date of the employment contract = expiration date of the work permit = expiration date of the extension of stay.

This regulation was changed a few years ago and the expiration date of your visa/extension of stay and work permit do not have to run together anymore.

I think that you'll be able to extend your work permit for one year after renewing your extension of stay.

The DoL will follow the dates of your visa, or extension of stay.

I hope that the given information is right, my apologies if something has changed.

The employment contract is always leading.

Guess we posted at the same time.

It seems that OP's contract ends end of April, considering the expiration day of his work permit.

With other words, he'd need a new contract or he'll only get an extension of stay until his contract runs out.

I have my new contract of employment for the school year already so that shouldn't be a problem. I might try and renew it anyway but at our local office it takes a week or so for them to process the renewal so it might be cutting it fine.

As Chai and Stamp above have said and yes they don't have to run to the same day anymore ...the Visa can only run as far as your end contract date ....fyi, I get a 2 year work permit renewal stamp which is some 3 or 4 months out of sync with waiver status and contract ends ....no problemo.

Thanks for the information everyone. I am going to try and get both done at the same time if I can, as I will be going home in the summer holidays.

I did both on one day and it took only 2 hours and 20 minutes. Immigration and DoL...

    But that was last year.

    Please don't forget your re-entry.....
