What a nice time of year to visit Tokyo!

Coming from China, a place that is generally polluted and chaotic, Japan is a breath of fresh air. I am impressed by Japan: the order, the safety, the wonderful food.

Spring Airlines is your friend for coming to Japan. Make sure to get the JR rail pass for foreigners before you come. If you fly into Ibaraki Airport, make sure to reserve a seat on the bus that will take you downtown--this can be done online.

I loved living in Thailand, and life in China can be good--especially because of the people--but Japan is as modern as it gets, a wonderful place to visit.

I used to go on stretched out visa runs to Osaka when I lived in Korea. Always enjoyed them...just stupidly expensive. Nice pics.

Tokyo does not have to be super expensive. The meal you see was at Yoshinoya: about 7 bucks total.

And Japan has discount domestic airlines, which you can see in the picture.

Ibaraki Airport is very good because of (1) low ticket costs due to low airport taxes (2) dirt cheap ground transportation--only 5 bucks one way, but you need a reservation. Check the airport's website and look for the bus service into Tokyo.

Extraordinary dining for a special occasion.

Perhaps more importantly, their convenience stores are convenient all of the time.

We are lucky because we are over in Southeast Asia or the Far East. It gives perspective, and a lot is going on over here. When you get a chance to travel over here, do it. But think about safety. Check out the ICAO safety rating of that airline you are about to fly.

About Tokyo: don't be afraid to fly into Ibaraki. It is a small airport, but everything is good.

When you take the bus to the airport from JR Tokyo Station, make sure to go the Yaesu South exit and not the South Bus exit.

Line 3 goes to Ibaraki. The ride is about 100 minutes if there is no traffic. Only costs about 5 bucks. A very good deal for Japan, and a pleasant ride on which you can see a lot.
