Some confusion at school this week:

Some new non-NES teachers have all got Non-B Visas now and the next step is KSP waiver and work permit.

Is TOEIC score needed to present to KSP for waiver or, presented to Labour office for WP after having obtained waiver from KSP?

Depending on the office and person at the desk that day, they both want to see a copy.

Attach a signed photo copy of the top portion of the certificate to their application package.
They will not usually ask to see the original.

I got a question about this.
One of my friend is now working for an Inter. School in Bkk.
The management told him that he needed a TOEIC score to get his Visa.

The thing is: he is not teaching English or even teaching in English because he is a French teacher (and a native speaker).

    BS, right?

A TOEIC, IELTS, TOEFL or equivalent certificates is a written requirement of The Teachers' Council only. Not a written requirement by either Immigration or Labour.

But at the moment both immigration and labor are working to ensure that the requirement is met so...

Have it (a photocopy signed by you) in with everything else in the application package (it's not like a photocopy is that expensive) or risk a delay while they debate the issue and send you home to get a copy anyway.

    Hmmm... It's what I thought.
It's highly possible that immigration officer interpret the requirement the way they see it and then ask foreign teacher to get a TOEIC even if they are not teaching in English.

However I bet they will never ask the Chinese or Japanese to get one...
