Very soon members might find that Thailand teaching will go off line for a short time, maybe around 24 hours. The reason being is the software this forum uses is buggy, outdated and is not the stable software many think it is.

So with that it has been decided to upgrade the software to a new kind of software.

The new forum software offers a better social engagement in line with social media such as Facebook and Twitter. The same applies to 'alerts'. It has the 'Activity Stream' feature where members easily can see all recent happenings on the forums. It provides a huge and great set of 'add-ons' which allows the forum to have extra features. It's easy to style and it can work excellent with search engines such as Google or Bing. Last but not least, the new software seems to be more secure against hackers than the current one.

Once the transition has been done, you will find it all a little different in how it works.

Everything in regard to members, posts and threads will be imported, but some things won't be.

Also permissions which will be imported aren't exactly the same, so there will be some tweaking to be done.

Once we're back up and running with the new software, we ask all members to take their time, check out things, and report back to us about any problems they might be having in regard to not being able to do something, see something and so on.

    Thanks for your understanding.

Cheers for letting the members know Stamp
Going to be a fun ride after this site using the current software for so long.
But the new software is indeed the way forward.

Like Stamp said, there are going to be a lot of stuff to iron out once we've changed software, so all we ask from our members is to take their time and let us know any problems you have with the new software.

It will mainly be permissions for getting into some of the boards, and Threads, nothing we won't be able to sort out but we just need you as the members to let us know the things you can't do or see

You will all know when it is happening as the site will go off line but we're hoping no more than 24 hours, however give if it did go over it could turn into 48 hours, but I really don't see it taking that long to open up the doors again.

Personally I don't want to have my account linked with FaceBook, Twitter & other social media. I'd prefer this forum to remain semi-anonymous unless the 'activity streams' or 'add-ons' mean that robots are going to do my work every day, before making me a cup of tea every morning, so I can live a life of luxury...

Is this just an upgrade for upgrade's sake? An upgrade that's only going to provide others more opportunities to steal my identity?

OK the last one was a bit 'baak dee'' but a little bit serious.

How many attacks has the forum had since its inception? The forum is so under the radar that Mac users are jealous. :hilarious:

You won't be. Linking is up to the user.

It stays anonymously as it is.

    We're leaving vBulletin.
