In the process of planning the wedding I have folded to everything. Even agreeing to wear those stupid Thai trousers for the Buddhist ceremony.

but the music is where I make my stand! :attack:

She wants the latest fad artist Bruno Mars and I want a punk song.

Which should win? (she'll probably win anyway.. :hilarious:)

Her choice: Bruno Mars - Marry You.

My Choice: Rancid - Who Would've Thought

    Let her pick the song.

    Punk? For a wedding?

    Damn, I'm getting old.

I second the motion; let your wife choose.

I guess this depends on how many ceremonies you are planning to have. If you do one Thai and one western ceremony, let her make the decisions for the Thai one, with the agreement that you make all the decisions for the western one. If you're only doing one ceremony, and
then you are sunk. It's too late to make a stand. Let her pick the wedding song. Yours can be used for a first or second dance.

choose a song you're both happy with. it's your wedding; set a tone of compromise and healthy problem solving skills.

and as far as wedding songs are concerned, i feel confident saying both of those songs suck warm sweaty donkey bollocks--especially the punk song.

I agree except for this caveat; this is Thailand, your wife is Thai, she's a got big face marrying a farang, let this one go to her. This is truly HER big day.
yeah, yeah, I know, but come on, no? :thumbsup2:

I guess there will be a lot of songs played at the wedding so I assume you are talking about the first song. My suggestion is to choose a different song, a more romantic song, and one that you (hopefully) both like.

As for the songs above: I was surprised to see the Rancid song described as punk. It seems to me to be 10% punk-ish, 89% Bruce Springsteen and 10% something else. Perhaps that is 'modern' punk.

Bruno Mars in popular with the young in Thailand. It's probably his looks rather than the lyrics. Maybe they like the tunes, too. One thing you might want to point out to your fiancee is that the words in the song say "I THINK I want to marry you." Hardly what you want to hear on your wedding day! Aren't you sure? LOL
