Yep. Closest border crossing from Suphanburi.

Do the border run and you'l get a fresh 60 or 90 days permission of stay depending on the type of visa. Good luck.

From post#6 this thread a while back (also see this post as how to get there in pics):
Update: Now it's 500 baht to the Thai officials and 400 Baht to the Myanmar side ...so 900 baht total.. Also, you now have to go past the immigration hut 4 KM's before border and right up to the actual border. (That's wot ma friend told me as he did a run Wednesday just gone)

    Gee, what a surprise!
I wish I still had my folding bicycle with me. It was great for taking on planes and trains, etc.

I'm guessing that if you stopped your car/taxi just out of sight of the immigration cops and then showed up on a bicycle and then pedaled your bicycle butt those four kilometers to the border, that the price would fall for two reasons. 1) You're not being driven anywhere. 2) You're now arriving on a bicycle, not in a car.

I was always moved when immigration officials reminded me that I could have saved myself the trouble of getting a visa at the embassy when I could have had a visa on arrival from them (no mention of the surcharge).

Speaking of visas and the like, years ago the policy at the airport was that the fee for overstay was waived for the first day. I know this to be true because I went through at something like fifteen minutes after midnight and was not fined. If true today, those who have work permits and visas expire may not have to pay 1,900 baht for a few extra days or scurry at light speed for a border.
