... Or both, black slacks and white shirts? National News Bureau Of Thailand | Govt. declares 1-year official mourning period

    • All black?
    • All white?
    • Black and white?
    • What about purple? (I read that an astrologer saw this colour as good sign for the King's health)
Yesterday, I saw employees wear pink or was it pale purple? (I have a pink tie somewhere)

There go my colourful shirts. Pale yellow, orange, ... Hawai shirts will be out of the question. For a year, starting today?

Looks like I will be needing more black & white slacks & shirts.

    • Brown shoes? Mmm, I've got those and deep burgundy, but the black shoes are being repaired. Might have to order black shoes, too?
    • Am turning to Ebay once it's clear what will be expected.
    • Buying many quality Polo shirts backfired when my boss objected to those.
    • Lanna shirt Fridays: errm, I only got a blueish and an orange Lanna shirt.

Nope. That was for the period of well-wishing.

Applies to government organisations. Private organisation decide themselves what they deem to be appropriate.

Black trousers and a white shirt are also considered as mourning clothes.

Inter but also part of a Gov Uni. 'Preferably' all black but white shirt & black tie is OK. Halloween party cancelled, music at the PTA conference cancelled etc.

Also there was a letter emailed yesterday from ISAT to all inters telling them to close today. The letter made its way to our line group but the director didn't get it in time. Students were sent home at 8.30 but teachers had to stay until 11.30. Some of us were let go even earlier as we live near an area that will be inaccessible this afternoon.

Mourning clothes...well, this is what I was informed of: "somber apparel." That means black shoes, black trousers, black, white, or dark-colored shirt (gray, etc), non-flashy necktie. To answer the OP, you cannot go wrong with black trousers, a black or white dress shirt, and a dark tie.

Fortunately, many of us we are in our midterm break so we will have time to prepare our wardrobe according to what school will think appropriate.

I bumped into one of my TA's in town today ....she has been told that when we return to school on 31st October that 'all black' is the attire we must wear.
Given the above, our private school has decided this is appropriate.

I hope little pin-on black ribbon bows will become the standard. I've seen them around and a few websites have also adopted.
