I'd forgotten about that initiative. :hilarious:

I'd highly recommend the SS maths & science books, which the students are forced to buy. Written by the Filipino science & maths teachers at Bangbon & 'based' on the Focus Smart series.

I hope the SS water, which again the students are forced to buy, is of better quality or they'll all be running to the toilet all day; oh wait...

there are 5 books. One for M1, one for M2, one for M3, one for M4, one for M5.

Not sure we are talking about the same books since Focus covers M1-M3

Just a guess, but a book which comes from an organization "within" is more likely to hold true to future questions on the o-net tests

Are they of the same quality as the PKT tests?

The books are relevant to the current curriculum and as such usable. The PKT tests were passable as we both know:smile2:

AFAIK there are only two editions. The first in my pics and the 'New Edition' in Stamp's pic. Not sure what you have seen.

Update: My HoD bought a new series of books 'Discovering Mathematics/Science' for M1-M3, written by Thai professors and Asst. Profs. I wish I had the old Focus Smart books back. The new books have more mistakes in them than the Focus series.

Yes these books disappointed me (second term m3 available yet?). Far too much sketchpad work. The books I'm talking about are newer than these

Not yet. The M3 Science book wasn't finished at the beginning of the semester. We got a booklet with only Chapter One in it. The books for the first semester were delivered just 3 weeks ago.

Right. We don't have the program so it's pretty useless to us to have all the sketchpad exercises in it.

I tried to get more info on these books but all I could find on their website (updated Dec. 2013) were pics of the covers of their 12 books. The Basic Biology seems interesting if the content lives uo to the title.

What levels do you need? I will be able to go to the shop on Monday and ask about prices.
