We're having around 5 big trucks of soil delivered today, and we were told that the landlady had to pay the police money for the trucks to be able to deliver/bring the soil to us.

We live off a highway so the trucks will have to drive down the highway to us, but I don't see how that makes any difference.

I just don't know why she had to pay off the police for this.
Anyone else heard about such a thing?

    ^ Thanks for sharing.

Why is this all happening? Will gardening be your new hobby? :wink2:

Well the house is rented and the landlady wanted to do it, as the soil before had sunk after the floods and also it wasn't great before the floods....I won't be doing any gardening with my back mate.... :wink2:

Try using things like shovels, rakes and hoes. Much more effective for gardening than a back.

Well, as it ain't your money being wasted on the soil (or driveway repairs) is there a lot you can say about it? Does seem a bit of overkill to have that mini-bulldozer in there pushing mud around.

We have a small piece of land (4m x 8m) adjacent to the back of the house. I told the wife, when the rainy season ends, I'll buy some topsoil, this section will be the future living room of the house. The past couple of months she has been using the land for a garden. I'm really surprised at how much money we saved by growing our own vegetables.

If the landlady had to pay the police money and you didn't, I wouldn't worry about it - so long as she doesn't expect you to contribute.
