If you are in Savannakhet make sure to enjoy a dinner at the French restaurant downtown. There is only one.

It is has a French Colonial ambiance, a nice selection of French wines, and the food is excellent.

It is located directly in front of the Catholic church (between the church and the river).

If you need to stay in Savannakhet overnight, then stay at the hotel across the street from the customs house. This hotel is new, it has security, and the the cost is only 800 Baht a night.
This is a very clean and well-maintained hotel. The manager, Mr. Lin, is friendly, and he speaks English well.

Right. I have to find the name for you. It is right in front of the customs house, and it is not on agoda. It is the best hotel in town besides that of the casino. Here is what the rooms look like:

Here is a photo from the hotel across from the Customs House, and from dinner at the French restaurant downtown:

(The restaurant is a five minute walk from the hotel. The Thai consulate is also a five minute walk from this hotel.)
