today, i told my mother-in-law that i'd be going to see a friend on a neighboring island tomorrow and that i'd be going without my wife and daughter, to which Meah Yai said, "ohhh (my name) sambai hoo-dak (ซำบายฮูดาก)".

my wife laughed and told me it was issan for "sabai roo-doot". i then asked if her mother just called me a "relaxed asshole". i was close, but it actually means, "comfortable as an anus" or "very very comfortable". i'm not exactly sure how and when it's used but it has to be the funniest thai/issan expression i've ever heard.

have you any good ones to share?

That's funny as hell mate.. "Darkk" is a good one I often chuckle to myself when the big fat ferrang is being referred to as "Darkk-ling"

I used to know a few myself but i kind of erased it from my vocab.

The ex (but still legally pre-ex) wife was from Nakhon Panom and had quite a potty mouth.

    (handy with the tazer too)

Ow yu! I can handle it!
It's a dig at the government officials who say they can deal with the flooding issues (or anything else), at which they generally fail.

Sud yot! Awesome! This was a new Thai phrase in 2003. Totally shocked (in a good way, that a farang knew that) the people in our area when I used that to describe something I liked a lot or was impressed by; fun it was.

It's a real ego booster when your partner says it during sex.
