If his coming and going did not coincide with visa expiration dates it would look a little off, especially if it was always to the same country known for drug production. Even more so if he was a full time teacher with a WP.

If he likes this Asian part of the world, I'd think Cambodia, Myanmar, or even Laos would have been a much better option for him.

I'm writing this not in favor of criminals who're trying to hide somewhere, it's just weird that there wasn't anything on the FBI watchlist about him.

    How serious was his crime?

Did he accidentally sell some stuff from the CIA to the wrong person? There's usually enough information why somebody is wanted, especially when it's oversea.

Something doesn't add up here. Can't you smell that smell?

It adds up. Maybe he thought he could cool off in Thailand for a while, but the DEA finally got the info on him. I tend to think he got a hint that lightnining might strike--such as a fellow dealer being arrested--and so he made himself scarce. Or, perhaps we was still working, say in the Golden Triangle, and he got fingered, one way or another.

The truth is that he may not be guilty of anything--he is just being arrested. Or he could be a heavy-hitter, we don't know.

He was not running for his life. He did not dump his old identity and get a new passport (that we know of). Most likely, his capture was a little bit of a surprise to him. Thirty-five years ago he could have disappeared into the woodwork in Pattaya, but those days are gone.

Dudes who embrace that kind of life are not going to have a moment's rest. But they were not thinking of that when they went to the dark side. Money is tempting, and our boy fell for it.
